The story begins with his great grandfather planting
the first 3.7 acres of vineyards during the 19th century,
and then continuing with his father. Born in Maries,
at an early age he learned the art of homemade wine
produced in the land of mountainous Zakynthos.
Stone, wood, old techniques and his creativity were
the “tools” he used to continue the tradition. When he
produces his wine he feels the same anticipation as when
he paints religious icons, whereas if Zakynthos were a
variety of wine it would be the “mellow, sweet Sirokos”.
Ήταν τον 19ο αιώνα όταν φυτεύτηκαν τα 15 πρώτα
στρέμματα αμπέλια, σε μια ιστορία που ξεκίνησε
από τον προπάππο και συνεχίστηκε από τον πατέρα
του. Γεννημένος στις Μαριές, έμαθε νωρίς την τέχνη
του κρασιού. Η πέτρα, το ξύλο, η παλιά τεχνοτροπία
και η δική του δημιουργικότητα ήταν τα «εργαλεία»
του στη συνέχιση της παράδοσης. Όταν παράγει το
κρασί του, αισθάνεται την ίδια αγωνία όπως όταν
αγιογραφεί, ενώ αν η Ζάκυνθος ήταν κρασί, θα ήταν
«ο μεστός, γλυκός Σιρόκος». artandwine.gr
